CILT UK Level 3 Certificate of Professional Competence for Transport Manager (Road Haulage)
Aims & Objectives
The Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) for Transport Managers in Road Haulage is offered by CILT (UK) (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport), on behalf of the Department for Transport and includes a range of subjects related to the business of road transport.
The objective of the qualification is for individuals to obtain the competency requirements for a Transport Manager as laid out in Regulation (EC) No. 1071/2009 and is suitable for individuals who want to either enter the profession of a Transport Manager or demonstrate their professional competence to meet Operator Licensing requirements. The qualification is open access and no prior knowledge, skills, understanding or qualifications are required.
Content and Course Design
Week One
Monday – Introduction to the Course, Business and Company Law, Commercial Conduct of the Business, Business Taxation.
Tuesday – Financial Management Techniques, Marketing, Industrial Relations, Organisation Charts, KPI’s, Work Plans, Health & Safety and Wellbeing.
Wednesday – Driver Licensing, Drivers’ Hours and Records (Basic Requirements), Drivers’ Records.
Thursday – Operator Licensing, Traffic Accident Procedure, Insurance.
Week Two
Monday – Planned Preventative Maintenance, Mechanical Conditions (Fleet Inspections and Enforcement), Mechanical Conditions (Plating and Testing), Weights and Dimensions of Vehicles and Loads.
Tuesday – Safe Loading of Vehicles and Transit of Goods, Traffic Regulations and Speed Limits, Transport Ancillaries and Contracts of Carriage, Electronic Data.
Wednesday – Vehicle Selection, Vehicle Costing, Vehicle Taxation.
Thursday – Permits and Methods of Operating, Incoterms and Frontier Crossings, Customs Transit Systems, International Transport Documentation.
Revision Day – following Monday – Classroom or via Zoom
Examination Day – Tuesday – undertaken via proctoring i.e. on-line examination
Overview of requirements for remote delivery via Zoom:
You will need to have access to a good stable internet connection, a computer, laptop, tablet or phone and a quiet place for the duration of the Zoom call. Your devise will need a forward facing camera.
